Dear Partner,

We're writing to remind you to implement the Payments Clarity Package V2 (payment_clarity_package_v2) feature by 30 April 2024. The Payments Clarity Package V2 offers your accommodation partners a seamless experience when they use your interface to get reservation details. If the feature is not implemented, your accommodation partners won't see the proper payment and tax breakdown information on guest reservations.

Why you should implement the Payments Clarity Package V2

To support you and adapt to evolving tax rules, we’ve developed a new way to determine and apply tax rates. From 13 May 2024, we’ll begin withholding and paying taxes directly to the tax authorities when we collect payments from guests on behalf of your properties. The Payments Clarity Package V2 feature gives your accommodation partners transparency in this process.

Key deadlines and next steps for you

To make sure the transition is smooth, please implement the Payments Clarity Package V2 by 30 April 2024 and conduct a capability assessment of the feature by 13 May 2024. The capability assessment will help you check that your integration works for accommodation partners and, if there are any issues, we’ll share recommendations to improve compatibility before a second assessment.

To implement the Payments Clarity Package V2, please follow these steps:
  1. Check the API documentation and Implementation Guide.
  2. Reach out to the Connectivity Support team and request a test property ID.
  3. Implement the Payments Clarity Package V2 and follow the testing guidelines to make sure that the taxes and charges displayed in your system come directly from Booking.com.
  4. Contact your Partner Business Manager to schedule a capability assessment. If you don’t have a Partner Business Manager, then please send us an email.

Which properties this applies to

For now, the changes to our tax process only apply to properties that meet all of the following criteria:
  • Located in Maine, New Hampshire or North Dakota.
  • Classified as a hotel, motel or similar property type (homes, apartments and other unique accommodation types aren’t included).
  • Use Payments by Booking.com and are paid out via VCC.
We’ll let the affected properties know on 30 April 2024. Properties located in other US states will continue to be responsible for calculating, collecting and paying applicable taxes to the appropriate authorities.

For more information, please check our frequently asked questions.

Kind regards,
Your Booking.com team
